Hair Tip of the Week: Why Does Hair Become Frizzy?
Many people in Singapore struggle with frizzy, dry or difficult-to-manage hair, especially in our humid climate.
Frizz often occurs when the outer layer of the hair, known as the cuticle, becomes raised or damaged. This can happen due to colouring, bleaching, excessive heat styling, environmental exposure or simply a lack of moisture. Once the cuticle is compromised, the hair absorbs moisture from the air more easily, causing it to swell and appear frizzy.
The photos above show some common signs of frizz, including dryness, rough texture, flyaways and a lack of definition.
To help keep hair looking smoother and healthier:
• Use a moisturising conditioner regularly
• Avoid excessive heat styling where possible
• Protect hair from environmental damage
• Schedule regular trims to remove split ends
• Consider professional treatments if your hair feels persistently dry or damaged
